How do I get nominated for an exchange at your university?
If you are interested in doing an exchange at our university, you must be nominated by your home institution before you apply to study here. When the nomination has been accepted, you will be sent information about the application process.

Is an English language proficiency test required for an exchange?
An English language proficiency test is not required. Partner schools will nominate candidates for exchange only if they meet Ontario Tech's English language proficiency requirements.

What do I do once I have been nominated?
Once you are nominated, complete the online application form. For undergraduate students, make sure you select Incoming Exchange Student.
The following documents are required at the time of application:
- Current and past transcripts
- A copy of your passport
- A letter of recommendation from your home university indicating you have been approved for the exchange and meet Ontario Tech's minimum English language proficiency requirements

How long does it take to get an acceptance letter?
Acceptance letters for undergraduate exchange students are generally sent out in May or June.

Do I need to accept my offer?
Once you have received your acceptance letter, you should confirm your acceptance as indicated the email you receive with your Letter of Acceptance (Offer of Admission for graduate exchange students). You should also confirm your acceptance with your home institution.

Do inbound exchange students pay fees??
As an inbound exchange student, you will have your tuition waived, but you are required to pay the following fees to the University of Ontario Institute of Technology for the term(s) you are here:
- University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP)
- U-Pass for local transportation
Costs for the current academic year are posted on the Ancillary fees page. *Fees are subject to change every year.

How do I pay the fees I owe?
Fees are posted on MyCampus. Once you have confirmed how much you owe, you can choose any of our accepted payment options. Popular options for exchange students are Flywire and PayMyTuition.

Do I need to buy health insurance?
All Ontario Tech students are required to have health insurance while they study at Ontario Tech. Since exchange students do not qualify for provincial health insurance, they are required to have the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP). Please visit uhip.ca to learn more about what is covered. You are welcome to buy additional health insurance, but you must still be enrolled in UHIP.

When is the closing date for course registration?
Fall semester
- Course selection for the 2019 Fall semester (September to December) closes on September 18.
Winter semester
- Course selection for the 2020 Winter semester (January to April) closes on January 17.

How do I get to the university from the airport?

Please note that exchange students are not eligible for the airport pick up program.

Can I live on campus?
Students can choose to live on campus (based on availability) or off campus. Learn more about where you can live.
