Mobility scholarships for current Ontario Tech students, faculty and staff

University policy states that all travel outside of Canada for university-related activities must be registered ahead of travel. This includes student exchanges, internships, research-related activities, university competitions, conference travel or any faculty and staff mobility. Candidates who successfully secure a mobility funding opportunity, must notify Ontario Tech University of their travel.

  • Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Program

    Call for Applications: 2026 Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program 

     Offered by Global Affairs Canada and China’s Ministry of Education, the Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program (CCSEP) aims to foster deeper mutual understanding, build strong academic and professional ties between Canada and China, and develop future Canadian leaders with expertise and experience in China. CCSEP alumni are part of a distinguished network of professionals who have gone on to build impactful careers in academia, public service, business, and other fields that contribute meaningfully to Canada-China engagement.  

     The program provides an excellent opportunity to learn Chinese, and/or pursue post-secondary studies or research at leading institutions across China.  

     Candidates must be Canadian citizens to participate in the outbound component of the program.  

     Who is eligible to apply?  

    • Students at the post-secondary level
    • Faculty members and researchers 
    • Mid-career professionals 

    Last year, the program introduced new components to expand eligibility and create new opportunities for participants: 

     Longer Stays for Graduate Students: Graduate students can now stay in China for up to 24 months with the option to obtain a graduate degree from designated learning institutions in China. 

    • Shorter Stays for Professionals: The minimum stay requirement for faculty, researchers, and mid-career professionals has been reduced from 2 months to 1 month, offering greater flexibility for those seeking short-term professional development opportunities.

    Horizon Europe International Mobility Award (IMA) 

    The Mitacs – Horizon Europe International Mobility Award (IMA) is designed to link Canadian researchers and innovators with the largest funding framework in the European Union.

    Key details on the Horizon – Europe IMA:   

    • Designed to enable Canadian researchers & innovators to build partnerships with European institutions and industry leaders.
    • Open to faculty at eligible Canadian universities and representatives from small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) engaged in R&D activities.
    • Eligible Canadian faculty members and industry representatives can access up to $10,000 CAD ($5,000 CAD per individual traveler).
    • Funding supports travel and participation in consortia-building activities tied to Horizon Europe Pillar II projects (including airfare, accommodation, event registration fees, and other mobility-related expenses).
    • Successful applicants will gain opportunities to attend relevant events, connect with large-scale consortia, and collaborate on proposals in the 2026-2027 Horizon Europe work programme.

    Globalink Research Internship: Faculty

    Application guidelines

    • Candidates: Professors
    • Application deadline: CLOSED (early June). Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive initiative for international undergraduates from the following countries and regions: Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States. From May to October of each year, top-ranked applicants participate in a 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering, and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences.
    • What a Mitacs Globalink Research Internship offers students:
      • A 12-week internship that increases their knowledge of and explores hands-on research in their field of study.
      • Work under the supervision of outstanding faculty members, with graduate students and research associates.
      • Access to Canada’s unique research landscape: applied, dynamic, and innovative.
      • A rewarding experience combining academic research at a Canadian academic institution, professional skills development courses and social activities.
