Visiting scholar scholarships

We will provide external and internal deadlines for each opportunity in each tab below, along with details to help guide you, FAQ and additional links for you to learn more.

Verify your eligibility: Receive permission and nomination from your home university's international office and determine your eligibility.

Deadline: March 4, 2025, via Ontario Tech (internal). Note: Only Canadian institutions can submit these applications, and we will do so on your behalf.

Candidates: Students from the Caribbean, Central America, North America, and South America.

  1. If you are a potential applicant, your home university must FIRST nominate you and then complete the scholarship application form.
  2. Carefully review and upload the required supporting documents (found in the Application Process tab) via the application form. Non-compliant documents result in an automatic application rejection.
You can find further information through the EduCanada International scholarship opportunities for non-Canadians webpage.

Students applying for a course-exchange must arrive at the beginning of each term according to Ontario Tech's academic calendar. A failure to arrive within the required timelines may result in the cancellation of your scholarship.

  • The Ontario Tech International Office will conduct a preliminary screening of the applications. Note: You are responsible for reviewing the scholarship guidelines and providing the required documents.
  • Selection process:
    • Results: The Ontario Tech International Office will email the selected students a confirmation letter following a decision made by the Global Affairs administrator.
      • Start date changes may be possible and are subject to approval from the home university and the Global Affairs administrator. Research students will also require approval from their Ontario Tech host supervisor.
      • Scholarships cannot be deferred and are not renewable.
      • Unsuccessful applications will not receive feedback.
      • Non-selected students may be able to move forward with their exchange upon request.
    • Visa or study/work permit: If successful, submit your visa or study/work permit application briskly to limit delays.
      • The Global Affairs administrator will provide a scholarship award letter and further information, and the Ontario Tech International Office can offer additional assistance.
